PIAB Awards

Deirdre, a longstanding client of the firm sustained injuries in a road traffic accident in 2008.  She received an award of 12,000.00 from the injuries board.   I advised Deirdre to reject this award as the injuries sustained in her accident to her neck and lower back were continuing.   She was getting ongoing treatment and I advised her that the award made by the injuries board was too low.  She agreed and rejected the award and the matter went before the High Court where the case was settled for

€50,000.00  plus costs

If Deirdre had accepted the award she would have received as low as 20% of the proper amount she should have recovered.   The injuries Board doctor who examined Deirdre on behalf of the board gave a report stating that her injuries were minor in nature and she would have no long standing problems.

Deidre’s Orthopaedic Surgeon disagreed with this prognosis and his report was accepted by the Defendant’s at the trial.
