Many workers suffer permanent tinnitus as a result of being exposed to excessive loud noise at work. In many of these cases the injury* could have been presented if employers had provided proper protective equipment. Instead, injured workers are left with a permanent condition that can cause difficulties sleeping, over-sensitive hearing and even in some cases depression.
We will help you with Tinnitus Claims
If you work, or have worked, in a noisy environment such as a steel or construction factory and now have a ringing, whistling, buzzing or humming noise in your ears or head you may be suffering from tinnitus. You should immediately go to your GP to be referred to an Audiologist so that the appropriate testing can be carried out to establish whether your hearing loss is noise induced or not.
Working within a noisy environment for an extended period of time while proper hearing protection is usually the main cause of work – related tinnitus. Tinnitus can cause noises to be heard in one ear, both ears or in the middle of the head. The noise can be low, medium or high pitched and in some cases continuous although usually it comes and goes.
If you have developed tinnitus as a result of a noisy workplace you may be entitled to seek compensation*. This is because your employer has a duty to make sure that it’s employees work in a safe and healthy environment and are not exposed to anything hazardous including excessive noise.
